Chateau Rauzan-Ségla has reduced its proportion of new wood in the farming of its vintage, and it benefits the expression of the fruit, which makes it even more desirable. However, we must be patient in order to discover the sublime fragrance of the Lord, dense and concentrated, that has taken on in 2009 a suit darker than ink!
But once the treasure opened, the amateur goes into a garden of wild roses, crushed red berries, smoke and vanilla that reveal to you all their delicacy, freshness and purity.

The estate is now managed by John Kolasa, who is also in charge of Chateau Canon in St. Emilion. Prior to the Kolasa era, the wines from the 50′s, 60′s, 70′s, 80′s and 90′s were moderate at best. A few exceptions can be found, most 1983, 1990 and the stunning 1986 are all great examples of Bordeaux wine from Rauzan Segla. Starting with the 2000 vintage, Rauzan Segla is back on track! The wines of Rauzan Segla are meant to age, allowing the wine to develop complexity, aromas and textures. They do not offer much pleasure young. Tannic, rich and full bodied, with time, the wine offers complex spicy and floral aromatics, purity of fruit, concentration and harmony that few other wines deliver.
The 50 hectare Bordeaux wine vineyard is planted on a gravel based terroir to 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc. The average age of the vines is close to 30 years old. Depending on the parcel, the vines are planted to various levels of density ranging from 6,600 to 10,000 vines per hectare.
2009 Rauzan Segla is deep ruby. The perfume offers jammy blackberry, fudge, fennel, earth, spice, and floral notes. Full bodied with a rich texture, round tannins, and structure to age, this sublime wine ends with long, pure sensations of sweet berries. 94/96 Pts
