Balvenie 12 years The Sweet Toast Of American Oak vertelt het verhaal van Kelsey McKechnie, Malt Master in opleiding bij Balvenie. Zij kwam met het idee om virgin oak vaten uit Kentucky zwaar te laten blakeren, waarna deze gevuld werden met Balvenie whisky die op ex-bourbonvaten rijpte.     De combinatie van virgin oak en ex-bourbon leidt tot een delicate, maar tegelijkertijd complexe whisky met toetsen van gesuikerd snoep, kokos en zachte vanille.

Clynelish is helder goud van kleur. maar de smaak is complex. wax en bijenwas met een tikje honing, gedroogd citrus- en tropisch fruit. De afdronk is licht peperig en daarna zacht.
