Kilchoman's Winter 2010 release is finally with us, and as usual it's likely to go pretty fast. We tasted a sublime cask strength pre-release sample of this at 2010's Whisky Show and think it's the best standard release Killy yet.

The third batch of Benromach's Cask Strength Vintage 2012 single malt was matured in a combination of bourbon and first-fill sherry casks until it was bottled in 2022. The palate brings notes of rich spices, stewed fruit, Seville orange zest, toasted oak and whispers of smoke that linger in the finish.

A second Bruichladdich 18yo following the successful first edition, which was finished in Willi Opitz Trockenbeerenauslese casks (that's Austrian pudding wine to you and me). This time the 'Ace-ing' (sigh) has been done with a different sweet wine: Clos Urolat from Jurancon in Southwest France.

Een cask strength 2010 single malt van Benromach die uitsluitend is gerijpt in first-fill vaten, waardoor een fruitig, zacht rokerig karakter ontstaat. Aroma's van rijke sherry, bakkruiden, sinaasappelschil en donkere chocolade vullen de neus, aangevuld met tonen van gestoofd fruit, kaneelgebakken appels, donkere honing, rode bessen, gebarsten zwarte peper, zachte rook en met pure chocolade omhulde koffiebonen in de neus.

Octomore 14.1 is peated to 128.9 PPM. It was made with 100% Scottish mainland grown Concerto barley and aged entirely on Islay for 5 years in first fill ex American whiskey casks.

11-05-2023  23/96 The hugely popular Springbank 18 year old. The first edition of this was extremely popular, with more than a hint of sherry among the Springbank brine and smoke, and this version has already been named as Best Campbeltown Malt at the World Whiskies Awards 2014.

Ausralische whisky, met twee verschillende Australische granen: tarwe en gemoute gerst.  Gerijpt op Australische rode wijn vaten.  In de smaak vanille, tropisch fruit, granen, rode appels en bessen.

Jack Daniels is gevestigd in Lynchburg, en doordat hij ook gemaakt is van maïs lijkt hij op bourbon, maar er is èèn groot verschil. Een Tennessee whiskey wordt na de productie gefilterd over esdoornhoutskool, waardoor er een fijn karakter ontstaat en de whiskey zijn unieke smaak en geur krijgt.

  In de Springbank distilleerderij staan drie stills, één washstill, die op stoom en vuur gestookt kan worden, en twee spirit stills, die op stoom gestookt worden. De vijf kleine washbacks zijn van larikshout gemaakt.
